Ruby Developer

Project Overview

The work involves development of new and existing features of an asset tracking platform that is highly configurable and adaptable to a client’s workflow. The software application is built in Ruby. To be able to architect and implement solutions from defined specs, the developer must have solid background not just in Ruby but as well as in MVC framework, OOP, and RESTful design patterns.

Responsibilities

• Participate as a member of the development team to improve the SaaS application
• Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code
• Architect and implement solutions from defined specs
• Work directly with support and operation teams to quickly resolve issues as they are reported
• Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to these problems
• API integrations with other systems
• Work directly with customers on an as needed basis to resolve issues
• Assist in technical documentation as needed

Qualifications

• At least 4 or more years of continual experience with Ruby projects with at least one project running in production
• Proficiency in MVC framework, OOP, RESTful design patterns, NoSQL databases preferrably MySQL and MongoDB
• Must have experience in jQuery and CSS
• Excellent troubleshooting skills
• Comfortable with TDD, BDD, and Unit Testing
• Able to debug processes within the Rails Console
• Have written and consumed APIs
• Familiar with New Relic reporting
• Experience in AWS and Ubuntu would be nice

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in a Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent related work experience required
• Experience working with geographically dispersed teams preferred
• Experience working with Agile methodologies
• Must be comfortable working in both a team environment as well as solo
